The Dr James Okpiliya-chaired Calabar University Electoral Committee (CUECO), Friday, cleared for election the candidatures of four out of five presidential aspirants in the ongoing University of Calabar Post-graduate Students Government (UNICAL PGSG) election NegroidHaven has learnt.
The CUECO okayed the eligibility of four post-graduate students, namely,
*Uket, Abanda John
Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, 200L Masters
*William Bassey
MBA, Faculty of Management, 200L Masters
*William Araga
Department of Education Foundation, Faculty of Education, 200L Masters
*Christian Raymond
Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture, 200L Masters.
But, disqualified the candidature of one Mr Sixtus Lebo, incidentally a relative of the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Cross River State and a 100L Doctor of Philosophy candidate of Geophysics, Faculty of Science. Findings by NegroidHaven suggest that Lebo did not meet one of the published requirements for the conduct of the election which states thus: 'To be eligible for the office (sic) of President, Vice President, Secretary General and Treasurer, the candidate must have, at least been a member of the association for one academic session.' 'Masters Students in their third year and Ph.D Students in their fourth year are ineligible for the PGSG election in any capacity', it continued.
