Findings by NegroidHaven suggest very strongly that the basic reason underlying the jumping of political boat of Dr Elocate Okura Ekom of Obubra II State Constituency at the 8th Cross River State House of Assembly from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a demonstration of profound loyalty to the distinguished Senator representing Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, John Owan-Enoh.
For instance, Dr Ekom was S.A to former Speaker of the House of Representatives now Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal courtesy of Sen. Owan-Enoh, he clinched the House of Assembly ticket also courtesy of Sen Owan-Enoh.
Recall that one Dan Obo, the incumbent DG of Cross River State Recreational Authority, once a PDP member has defected to the APC out of similar loyalty to Owan-Enoh.
If one understands that in Nigeria’s politics loyalty proceeds credibility, capacity and/or integrity, then one could appreciate Dr Elom’s action. Recall that political pundits have argued in favour of the thesis that there seen to be no fundamental ideological disparity between the PDP and APC. So, decamping isn’t issues related but based on sentiments of these character and the disposition to sustain one’s political structure and aspirations.
