During a visit to some INEC registration centres across the state. It is sad that only two LGAs, Bakassi and Abi, are presently responding very well to the voter's registration exercise going on across the state.
Situation reports from the North mostly in Ogoja and Bekwarra shows 15 persons on average are captured per day. That is, less than 2 persons per ward each day. Yala is doing a little better with the provision of a bus to convey people from interior villages out to the registration centres, yet this is said to be inadequate.
Obudu and Obanlikwu tend to have a little improvement in recent time but yet to have a massive turnout as many are still yet to be registered.
Complains of no fuel, breakdown of computer machines, bad generating sets, and cost of transpiration forms the bulk of challenges.
One Mr, Mark, when interviewed lamented that he has spend money on transportation to the centre on two occasions only to be told the machines are not functioning. Some youths told reporters that, at some point they have to contribute money to buy fuel for the gen to be powered to carry out registration for the few persons that shows up.
The situation is not different in all other LGAs as the total response to the continuous voter's registration in the state is generally very poor.
Let's sensitise all the LGA in the south and the entire State to come out and register.
