'I have never been arrested in my life; and I don't know what the 4 walls of a cell look like'.
—Dr Betta Edu,
Director General
Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency
22 June 2017, 23:21(local time)
The above quote represents how the pioneer DG of state primary health care agency, Dr Edu, attempted to quell the peddled information making the rounds that she was, at the instance of the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr Inyang Asibong, remanded in police cell all through the night of 21st June. Dr Inyang even made matter worse when she was the first to reply below the thread —'That's my girl!'.
Recall that the perception is there's a 'cold war' between Inyang and Edu. That Edu, in being over-ambitious, impersonate the Office of the Honourable Commissioner for Health, reportedly, and the stories continue.
It seems to me that the Facebook thread(see below) from where I culled my quote above was a futile attempt to manage public reaction and perception to the alleged brouhaha. See how she distracts Cross Riverians with the achievements of permanent building for her agency and cold room.
NegroidHaven will get to the root of the matter. Wahala deh oooo for dis we state!
Excerpt:
This month has been one of the sweetest for me and the entire health team. Our collaborations and hard work is beginning to pay off really fast. First the Primary Health center at the IDP camp in Bakassi is completed and awaiting commissioning.
Secondly, the Governor has laid Foundation for a health post right inside the creeks in Akpabuyo! You trust me I went to the creeks to meet the boys who own the area. We agreed that area will be calm and quiet till the job is done! I also spent some quality time talking to them on the harmful effect of "NKONGEKPO" which the had between their lips. " in their words, baby girl something must kill a man".
As the queen of the creeks, we had fun dancing and jirating with the boys. Project to be completed within 6 months.
For some of us who truly feel for the IDPs in bakassi, we keep going to give cloths food items and health services to put smiles on their faces .
Permit me to let the cat out of the bag, Primary Health Care Development Agency is moving to its permanent site, which is ready, the vaccines are moving into the new cold room which is ready, and for the records… I have never been arrested in my life; and I don't know what the 4 walls of a cell look like. Dr Inyang Asibong is my big sister. #Ain't no stopping us now#
