The Ogun state Governor, Ibikunle Amosu couldn't control his temper yesterday when aggrieved workers of the state civil service threatened to go on strike over backlog of unpaid allowances and wages.

The Governor who refused to be intimidated by the threat of his workers, told them to their faces that they are free to resign from duty since according to him, the workers are incapable of 'reading the handwriting on the wall'- which is the fact that Nigeria is in recession and other states in the federation are being affected by it too!.

According to our source, Gov.Amosu contends that it is amazing to know that the workers are rather insensitive of the fact that, there is economic recession in Nigeria, and that  such has eaten deep into virtually all states.

Hence, their threat to go on strike is unwarranted, a product of irrationality on the part of the aggrieved workers.

NHB gathered that the Governor presented such bold front at a town hall meeting organised by the Ministry of Budget and Planning at June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, where he informed that he would not succumb to the demands of the workers.

An excerpt of his statement reads:

'’There is recession. We all know this, yet some are not using their brains. They don’t have brains and they don’t know what they are doing.

They don’t have sense. I cannot give what I don’t have. Teachers alone collect N2 billion monthly.

If you want to join politics go and resign, you can then become card carrying member of political parties, you can start printing posters if you want to contest”.
