As part of the Federal Government’s efforts to stem the tide of youth restiveness and ensure the security of lives and property of the residents of Niger Delta area, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Uguru Usani has announced the appointment of Mr. Tikari Y. Danjuma as the Coordinator of Niger Delta Riverine Protection Programme.
The Minister disclosed that the appointment of Mr. Danjuma is with immediate effect.

Yakurr, Cross River-born federal Minister of Niger Delta Affairs Ministry, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani, was on Friday slammed by Nigerians over the latter's appointment of one Tikari Y. Danjuma perceived to come from the northern extraction of the country as head of a programme of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.
However, recent revelations suggests otherwise. The Tikari Y. Danjuma who is perceived to be of Nigeria's northerner geopolitical zone is actually from Delta State. His real identity may be Tikari Matthew Danjuma.
The reason for the troubling nomenclature has been explained by one Mr Agba Inyaka thus: 'I did my one year NYSC in Sagbama now in Bayelsa. People there have Chinese names & Ogoja & Hausa names. I Am an Historian, I know the reason. Please go & read about the trans-atlantic trade & the history of Aro Chukwu long juju'.
It turned out that Usani did not really appoint a 'northerner' into a 'southern' federal ministry. But, is there any justification for polarising this country especially on the grounds of religion, region or ethnicity. Why do we still value the polarising idea of 'State/Local government of Origin' instead of the integrating concept of 'State/Local government of Residence'. Why can't we begin to contemplate a true national consciousness first and foremost before the considerations of tribe, geopolitical zone, secret, etc?
