Who Will Love my Nigeria?!
Some christened her 'cheap fun'. For next to nothing you could have your way. She needed every kobo she could get. They took full advantage of her vulnerability and literally raped her.
He spent an unusually long time with her, and stepping out, there were mischievous smiles on the faces of the people that simply interpreted "wow, that was a marathon!!!"
As if to confirm their conspiracy theory, she, for the first time ever, opened her window to watch him till he was out of sight with tears freely flowing all the while and fueling the speculation.
He was her last customer.
No, they were very wrong, so wrong!
On that fateful day, he had spent the two hours listening and talking to her. At the end of the day, he paid off her family debt, restored her self confidence, and sent her back home, far away from the whorehouse.
Fellow Nigerians, we must realize that Nigeria is not a geographical space, BUT 170 million HUMAN BEINGS like you and I, to whom the oil money also belongs. These Nigerians go to bed hungry and homeless while a few build homes for their dogs and feed them with choice beef.
As with any other day, but particularly on this Independence Day, you must decide for yourself if all you want to be is the next 'customer' to rip off and rape our beloved country. If all that pleases you is the momentary advantage you can take by virtue of your political or administrative positioning or if you will take time to do your bit to contribute to the restoration of her dignity, pride, and greatness.
Do that little bit to love Nigeria back to respectability in the committee of nations.
