Yesternight about 8:00PM there was what may be described as a real life version of the mobile device game, Temple Run, as Calabar residents especially those living at Mount Zion by Goldie Roads axis where seen to be running helter skelter for the safety of their lives/property as bandits, criminals, armed robbers, suspected cultists, etc fired live rounds of bullets in thin air in full public glare unabated!

A vehicle and valuables belonging to one Dr. Patrick Mbu, presumably working with the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) was robbed at the scene of the incident.

A eye witness account has it that the criminals numbered four. That an unidentified police officer shot a gun at one of the four but to his surprise discovered that the bullet fell on the suspected criminal's body without penetrating, implying that the latter may have ingested a potion that renders the physical body immune to gun shot, machete, exerted force and the like. The now visibly angry suspected robber made for the daring police officer who on discovering that his subject was invincible decided to run for his dear life. He ran towards the stationary police van but the van drove off leaving him behind as the suspected criminal gapped on his prey and collected his gun. The fate of the police is yet to be ascertained.

Read the words of Pst. Jerry's elder sibling who narrated the incident to NegroidHaven: 'My younger witnessed everything. He said they were about 4 in number and a police man may be dead. The said police shot at the robber/ cultist but the bullet didn't penetrate, the robber/cultist got the gun from the police chased him and when they got to where the police van was, the van drove off leaving him behind at the mercy of the robbers/cultists'.

It will be recalled that the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Cross River command of the Nigerian Police Force had promised NegroidHaven yesterday to ascertain the veracity of the incident that transpired at Mount Zion by Goldie roads. We are yet to hear from the said office.

The once tranquil and serene Calabar is becoming more of a coercive state than the home of tourists, business and pleasure.
