Information reaching NegroidHaven by a source domiciled in the area has it that as at the point of publishing this story, men of the underworld were reported a few minutes ago to be engaged in firing live rounds at Mount Zion Street by Goldie Road in Calabar.
Ifere Paul, Cross River leading whistle blower about forty five minutes ago said on his social media wall, 'If you are living in Calabar around Goldie by Mount Zion, or transiting through that route, please reroute yourself from that axis. Live shooting with bandits and cultists. Please play safe and stay safe. Live no get duplicate. Don't be a victim of a stray bullet'.
One Rita Ekpo in commenting below Ifere Paul's thread confirmed thus: 'I'm just living the place now, people are running helter skelter this night. Thanks for your advice.'
Again, one Steve Takim revealed that 'My friend Dr. Patrick Mbu have just been rob of his car and valuables at Mayne Avenue now now…..' and the reportedly affected Dr Mbu is perceived to be a staff of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH).
When contacted, as at press time, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Cross River Command, Irene Itohan said she was yet to be abreast with the situation, but however said she would confirm the incident.
Itohan's statement reads in part, 'I wouldn't know but I will confirm to know if truly there was firing'.
It should be noted that the incident may not be unconnected to the recent spate of cultists clashes in Calabar that reportedly took no fewer than three lives yesterday, a police officer being affected.
