In Calabar, UN Peace Day was marked by Partners for Peace in the Niger Delta (P4P). P4P collaborated with the Office of the State Security Adviser (SSA) to His Excellency the Executive Governor of Cross River State as well as other development partners like Nigeria Red Cross Society, Development Option, Girls Power Initiative, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Edem Foundation, Green Code, WYCUT, etc.

The picture clips features most prominently, Comrade Samuel Richard Bassey the erstwhile President of Calabar Municipality Students Association (CAMSA) who hails from Calabar Municipality. All through the advocacy walk,  Comr. Bassey was filled with gaiety. Almost now and then Comr Bassey would proclaim how he craved for peace and he would love a peaceful society. While the peace walk contingent paraded the street of Calabar,  Comr Bassey would always echo to the author of this publication who incidentally was the anchor man for the day how he longes for peace in Cross River State.

Comr Bassey would take numerous snapshots with the official hash tag bordering on peace, banners/placards with peace advocating propositions, and the crescendo was at the Peace Park where Bassey at designated spots evolved unique pose with which he took snapshots earlier informing me of his intentions to publish them on Facebook. Comr Bassey by his actions almost immediately reminded me of the popular narrative attributed to Calabar which is interpreted to be Come And Live And Be At Rest (C.A.L.A.B.A.R.). At a point,  the present author would ask Comr Bassey how he got wind of the walk, his response was, he was a man of peace, if he couldn't show up for a peace walk,  what else would he show up to?

Without fear of equivocation Comrade Samuel Richard Bassey 'built blocks for peace' on 21st September by coming out to walk for peace. His consistent smiles,  suggest to me that 'peace always goes with a smile'.
