"Edo State is no go area for PDP. We will resist PDP"- Oshiomole
The clock is ticking.. Time to say final good bye seems to be drawing nearer than expected for the incumbent Governor of Edo State, Comr. Adams Oshiomhole.
As the next gubernatorial election draws closer, Gov. Oshiomole is making it clear to his PDP counterparts that they would not add Edo State to their conquered territories.
According to a press release, Oshiomole dared some political heavy weights in PDP, who he suspects are unwarrantedly interested in the outcome of the Edo Guber polls, alleging that their labour to install a PDP governor in the state would not work.
The one time Labour Union crusader and Leader, told his Governorship counterparts in Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, and Rivers State, Nyesom Wike not to interfere in the forthcoming election in the state and that failure to abide by such instruction would lead to grave consequences.
NHB learnt from a reliable source, that Gov. Oshiomole asserted this while speaking to correspondents after his visit to the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari.
According to him, any attempt to manipulate the election in the state would not tolerated including any form of external interference especially as regards the issue of security.
Laying credence to Sun news online publication, Gov. Adams Oshiomole accused the likes of Wike and Okowa of Rivers and Delta States of trying to interfere in the forthcoming elections through importation of militants into the state to foment crisis.
According to Oshiomole:
“Rivers and Delta have had a history of violence and deaths in every election. In Rivers in particular, they almost use blood instead of ink pads on Election Day, but in Edo State, we want to have a credible election.
These state governors imported people to Edo to cause problems, but they have been arrested and would be prosecuted.
“I want to tell these governors that they should be ashamed of themselves because we are all Chief Security Officers in our states and our job is to ensure the security of lives and property.
I want to plead with them that if they want to send anyone to Edo State, they should send their own children so that they can bear the consequences of their fathers’ actions.
“I also want to tell them that a shark may appear powerful because it is inside the creek, but when you place it on dry soil, even babies can feast on it.
So Edo is not like the creeks you have in Rivers. We are not in the creeks. If they move those guys who can dive into the water and do the magic to the dry soil of Edo, they would learn what it takes to walk through the desert the hard way.
They must not import killers into Edo State, if they do, they would bear the consequences.”
According to Oshiomole, the PDP governorship candidate in the state is destined to lose the elections on the premise that he (Pst. Osagie Ize-Iyamu) was recently endorsed by former governor Lucky Igbinedion, whom he (Oshiomole) considered a failure.
Gov. Oshiomole continues:
“We have worked for Edo people and there is no ward where you would visit and would not find one standard government project, so we are confident that Edo people would give us their votes.”
