Every 21st September is designated international day of peace by the United Nations. Yesterday, 21 September 2016 was one of such high days. The theme for the day was: Sustenable Development Goals: Building blocks for peace.

In Calabar, UN Peace Day was marked by Partners for Peace in the Niger Delta (P4P). P4P collaborated with the Office of the State Security Adviser (SSA) to His Excellency the Executive Governor of Cross River State as well as other development partners like Nigeria Red Cross Society, Development Option, Girls Power Initiative, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Edem Foundation, Green Code, WYCUT, etc.

The commemoration had an advocacy walk whose route kicked off from Mary Slessor Roundabout through Marian Road to IBB Way/Marian Road at former Rabana. It continued left to the U. J. Esuene Stadium via IBB Way, then to Governor's Office through Donald Duke Avenue; finally, from Governor's Office the route moved left to Peace Park its termination point.

At the Peace Park there was an expression of goodwill messages by representative of a sizeable chunk of the development partners. The highpoint of the walk was the presentation of a communique by P4P signed by all the development partners.

The walk was adjudged by some to be  apt being that the colourful display of the sundry outfits of the development partners, the orderly filling, the attracting music and media chants/address was all that was needed to send the message of 'let there be peace and let it begin with you'.
