The Local Government Inspector,
Grand Commander of Corps Members,
Inspector Mrs. Adeola Abdul,
Agege Local Government.
Lagos State.
07 July, 2016.

Madam,

THE NEED FOR THE CREATION OF EDUCATION AND ENLIGHTENMENT COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SERVICE GROUP IN AGEGE LOCAL GOVERNMENT.

It is with utmost sense of responsibility and service to my fatherland that I pen down this letter. However, I am enthused to first congratulate you for sterling successes as a Local Government Inspector for the past two years. Indeed, you are a diamond arrow on the quiver of NYSC Agege. Youth Corps members are without vacillation naturally imbued with the spirit of humility, truth and simplicity of which you have been a worthy model.

As our Inspector, I know, understand and is fully aware of how task full, stressful and braincracking it is managing and coordinating corps members. It would be insane of me, if I fail to commend your effort so far for your administrative restructuring and superlative sense of leadership. I am not flabbergasted by your success because you are a contemporary Nostradamus. Truly, you are a woman with incontrovertible pedigree of altruism and intellectual  excellence.

Haven said that, this letter is necessitated and born out of my personal observation as a Corps member. There is need for the establishment of Education and Enlightenment Community Development service group which shall take responsibility to inculcate into children and youths, the habits of reading. With this we are sure of a literate society whereby the children and youth will be informed, educated, liberated and empowered by knowledge in which they received from reading.

The role of an anticipated Education and Enlightenment Community Development service group in any Local Government can not be over emphasized as they played very active role in community development. The bedrock of any flourishing community is education. Majority of youths are not engaged educationally and as such, they get involved in crimes and anti societal acts. The group will inspire youths and children to take advantage of the free and compulsory education and by so doing enhance corruption free environment.

Also, it is well known that enlightenment principles that considered education as instrument of social reform and improvement remain fundamental characteristics of Lagos state policy. Thus, the objectives of the group shall be as follows:

(1.) To foster natural human psychological growth and development for personal maturity of moral consciousness for 'conscience' in conjunction with the unfolding of human potential in conditions of personal freedom as inner freedom among youth and students in Agege Local Government.

(2.) Enlightening the youths and students to develop the spirit of entrepreneurship.

(3.) Reaching out to final year student in secondary schools across the local government to address them on basic requirements for gaining admission to their respective area of specialization in University.

(4.)  The group will be to enable every child and youth to be resourceful to the solution of the problem connected with his own needs.

(5.) The group if launched, will also visit school libraries and identify lacking books, solicit for fund to present free books for libraries, science and technological equipment for science and Technical laboratories.

The first ideal for a generation is to strive that the generation that follows it may be able to enjoy more beauty and more happiness; it is to reduce the causes of misunderstanding,  prejudices, unnecessary suffering, useless conflicts. This is the ideal of education and enlightenment community development service.

In line with this, the group will reinstate dignity to youth of Agege when established by inspiring and awakening young ones that they can stand a chance among their contemporaries globally and can look at the future with the hope that there is no height they will not attain in life if they vigorously pursue their education.

Inspector Ma, you will agree with me that illiteracy compound poverty while education does not only enlighten but also empowers. Taking a critical analysis of the free and compulsory education of His Excellency Governor Akinwunmi Ambode the Executive Governor of Lagos state, you will notice that there are some youths on the street out of ignorance failed to take advantage of this life changing opportunity. This is why the creation of this group is timely and necessary especially now that we have new Corps members to distribute to various groups.

In conclusion, I hereby urge and plead the management of NYSC Agege Local Government headed by your good office to please look into this humble observation.

God bless Local Government Inspector
God bless National Youth Service Corps
God bless Lagos State

             Yours Truly,
        Ekemini James
