Ogoja-born social commentator, Prince Thomas Abi Jr has tasked the present political leadership of the state to industrialise agriculture in the state. He specifically highlighted Bekwarra groundnut, salt in Okpoma, Plantain in Biase, Ikom, Boki, and Etung, Cassava in Obubra, fish and Crayfish in Bakassi and Calabar, Bansara Rice, Maize, revamping Okuku market in the northern axis of the state and revitalising vegetables farming for export like some southeastern states. Read full script of his advice:

***Like I have always said, the best way to go is industralizing CRS. We have all it takes to make our state prosperous for everyone.

The government must key into the following if the state must be industrialized:

1.The first step is for us to industrialize the Bekwarra groundnut into vegetable oil.

2. We must look at the salt in Okpoma. Building a salt factory there is very important.

3. The Plantain in Biase, Ikom, Boki, and Etung should be industrialized.

4. The Cassava in Obubra and other parts of the state should be processed into flour.

5. The fish and Crayfish in Bakassi and Calabar should be packaged into Cross River fish and crayfish.

6.  We have to key into large scale farming of Maize. This would provide made in Cross River cereals for our children and adults alike.

7. The Bansara Rice is another avenue we must exploit. We need to produce made in Cross River rice.

8. We have to open the Okuku market. This would develop the five local governments of Cross River North.

9. The state has a fertile soil. We must begin to plant vegetables, tomatoes and water leaf for exportation just like Anambra.

There is no other way to Industrialize Cross River State than keying in to the above mentioned.

God bless CRS!

***Do you agree with Prince Abi that industrialisation of the state's agricultural products is the key to our economic emancipation?
