The President and all Governors need to go to Anambra to study the secret for effectively running a government, pay staff without owing arrears and boost their local economy!
This is why I advocate for True Federalism. It will bring about the type of competition that will lead to more states becoming like Anambra.
Ben Murray-Bruce
Distinguished Senator (Bayelsa Senatorial District) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
19 June 2016.
The above statement which is attributed to the Senator representing a senatorial district in Bayelsa State at the National Assembly (NASS), appeared on his social media account. It was directed to the Executive President of Nigeria and all thirty-six Executive Governors including Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State.
The Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) of Anambra State is such that is sustaining the local economy so much so that salaries of civil servants are paid promptly and up to date.
For Cross River only civil servants of the state civil service are deemed to be staff. Local Government staff are sometimes owed salaries with no end in sight while staff of the state civil service are been paid their salaries of the succeeding month upfront! Political Appointees are owed salaries, Honourable Members of the state House of Assembly are owed allowances. In fact, the picture is so grim that the House of Assembly cannot even run its day to day activities: for example, it cannot into now, print copies of the state Appropriation Law for 2016. Hmmmmm…it's that bad!
I think the Governor Ben Ayade should heed the common sense senator's advice, I would suggest, by going to understudy the Executive Governor of Anambra State.
