With a lingering crisis of waste management and refuse evacuation in Cross River State capital city due to the sack of 250 CUDA workers and up to 7-13 months unpaid salaries, the city of Calabar is now a wasted land.

As refuse dumps compete with mountain Kilimanjaro, and a putrid stench like Mumbai in India, Governor Ben Ayade has mobilized a crack team to tackle the refuse head on.

Governor Ben Ayade who in his office disbursed a few thousand naira for his SA on Intelligence & Networking, Ugbizi Cletus, to acquire hand gloves, and a shovel, charged him to tackle the issue of waste.

Mr Cletus was seen on the streets of Calabar busy removing refuse rather than doing his job of intelligence & networking in the government house.

The Cross River State Governor, who is an environmentalist is having difficulties keeping up with streets cleaners and waste keepers salaries. The governor has on inception expanded in government with over 1500 appointees of varying colors and shades.

After appointing 1500 PAs and SAs, he laid off 250 refuse collectors. Now, he is using the SAs to evacuate the refuse.

As mad men and women are now seen cleaning the streets in Calabar, a lot of people have posited that the governor should visits a psychiatric hospital.

For me, due to paucity of funds in Cross River State as a result of dwindling IGR resulting from tax exemption law of Cross River State, our governor should not border going abroad for his medical evaluation. He should just make do with the psychiatric facility at Moore Road.
