The integrity of Ayade the Governor of Cross River State is facing serious challenges. These is so because of so many promises and so less fulfilment of such promises.
In an economic downturn like the one faced by Cross River State, Ayade went extravagant with long convoy for himself and his co-Governor Frank Ayade. He looked the skies while critics like us kept advising that he looks at agriculture and completion of abandoned projects and existing roads. He expanded his EXCO while we pointedly predicted that he cannot pay all his political appointees and cabinet members. With Ayade, failure is easily predictable. Cross River State is failing as funds are reducing.
Most of my colleagues in University of Calabar who got political appointment and have applied for Leave of Absence are withdrawing their applications months after their appointment was announced. While it took a long time for a few of them to be given appointment letters, most are yet to be given even appointment letters.
The issue now is when they will be pay rolled. What could be the intentions of Mr. Ayade in railing out appointments when he knows there is no funds. Could the government of Mr. Ayade be properly described as a government of fraud and deception? Only time shall reveal the masquerade behind Ayade, I hope it not be too late for our precarious economy.
