The Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Emmanuel Kachukwu, on the evening of Tuesday 10 May announced that the pump price for fuel is now N145, an increment from N86.50. The Minister for Petroleum, Muhammadu Buhari, reportedly announced the intention of his government to remove fuel subsidy from the United Kingdom.

What follows is a cross section of how Cross Riverians greeted that announcement:

Where are the occuppy Nigeria? Fuel is now sold at #145 per liter and they are not saying anything. GEJ proposed 140 in 2012 they protested that the timing was wrong and that there was no parliative measures to reduce the suffering of the masses.

I guess this government has been able to put in place the necessary infrastructures that would ameliorate the sufferings of Nigerians. Otherwise their action will be seen as insensitve to the plights of Nigerians considering our poor economy now.

Nooooo! Com'on guys this cannot be true!…I know Mr President, its 45 naira not 145 naira….thats the promise! fuel price will reduce in line with the falling oil price…we have the maths worked out…he already reduced fuel price by 50Kobo less than President Goodluck…am sure it will soon get to 45 naira…people can't suffer that kind of untold hardship without any measures to cushion it…not possible!

Fuel Increment: A Deliberate Attempt to Undermine the Sufferings of Nigerians

I deliberately refused to react on the rather unfortunate news that petrol pump price have been increased from N86.50 per litre to N145. I wanted to widely research to see if there's any reasonable rationale behind the increment but unfortunately, I found nothing.

The decision is not just ridiculous but insulting, embarrassing and provoking. I don't want to believe that the minster of state for petroleum and the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Dr. Ibe Kachiku has completely lost sense of history.

I have taken my time to curiously read through the funny explanation by the minister and have come to the conclusion that the level of incompetence demonstrated by this man since he assumed office has become unbearable.

As much as I am a strong supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari, I won't close my eyes to any anti-people policy. The increment is a radical and classical departure from the President's explanation that he understands the sufferings of Nigerians.

Nigerians don't need too much. All they want is steady light and available petrol at an affordable rate. I think this current administration has the political will to even do better than this.

At a time where almost every Nigerian is into survival of the fittest as a result of the mess of former administrations, the government need no over stretch our patience.

If Nigerians were strongly opposed to this unfriendly gesture in 2011, I wonder why the current administration which is built on change can ever imagine anything different.

Breaking: FG removes subsidy, petrol to sell for 145 per litre!

In 2012, After the removal of subsidy, fuel was to sell @ 141 Naira per liter.
Why the increase in price now especially in the face of international oil price crash?

Fine…I am die hard APC member but I wont support insensitivity from the part of government.

How do you want to explain to a lay man like me that I will be buying fuel at N140.00 per litre?

If I die from hardship, will I support this government from the grave?

This will make everything rise except our salaries. Our transport fares, food, clothing and shelter.

So please reconsider your stance if not I wont hesitate to join the many Nigerians to vehemently kick against this diabolic decisions.

Unto your hands, O Almighty father…!

"Minister of State for Petroleum Ibe Kachikwu told State House journalists Wednesday evening that fuel is now N145 per litre from today."

Despite the fact that Cross River State is a PDP state. Could one say that Cross Riverians don't have a justification for challenging the new PMS announced by Kachukwu? Is the APC led center fair in the increment of pump price from N86.50, 50 koko increment from former President Goodluck Jonathan, to N145.00? What about the campaign promise? Once, Nigerians were even told pump price will fall to N45 if PDP were voted for! Hmmmmmm…where are these apologists today?
