The above statement is credited to pst. Tunde Bakare, the Senior Pastor of the Latter Rain Asembly, Ikeja-Lagos.
To my mind, this piece of mind by Bakare can be described as a message to Mr President in particular and by extension, also a message to the good people of Nigeria.
As a way of introduction, Tunde Bakare is popularly known as one amongst the few pastors in Nigeria that will not compromise his religious convictions and moral standards no matter the temptation.
He is also referred to as a no nonsense and fearless preacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
At such times in which most religious leaders are shying away from political positions and leadership responsibilities despite the dire need in the Nation.
He came forward and ran for a political office while still serving as a religious leader in his local church.
He became a running mate of President Buhari in the 2011 general election which though was unsuccessful.
Pastor Bakare while speaking in a public policy forum in Lagos recently, did aver that institutional reforms and amendments are imperative to the liberation of Nigeria from her economic recession.
In the same vein, the controversial and courageous preacher one who is also politically abreast with facts about the state of our nation, Nigeria right from its historical antiquity to the present day, did argue as touching Mr President Muhammad Buhari in what looks like a friendly but candid advice that, Integrity alone is not enough to run a complex and multifaceted Nigeria.
In his words:
“Integrity is not enough to run a nation, Nigeria must be born again”.
