Cross River State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mrs. Inyang Asibong, on Saturday 14 May 2016 commissioned an ultra modern cottage hospital in Kabian community, Basang West, Obanlikwu local government area of Cross River State.
The Honourable Commissioner for Health who represented His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, 'called for appropriate management capacity which is essential in the day to day operation and facility management' according to Mr. Coco-Bassey Esu, the media aide to the Honourable Commissioner.
Present at the occasion were top government functionaries from the Ministry of Health, Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency, State Executive Council, Obanlikwu LGA, traditional rulers and members of the host community.
In another separate event of the same day, 14 May, was the commissioning of another medical facility in Obudu LGA —the St Luke's General Hospital, the first state owned hospital in Obudu under a Public Private Partnership between the Cross River State Government and St Luke's Hospital in Lagos.
In a separate speech, at St Luke's General Hospital, the Honourable Commissioner for Health said the hospital has met the environmentally friendly design, clinically and functional efficiency, up to date health care technology which is in line with the pro people policy of this administration to ensure Cross Riverians access affordable health care.
It should be noted that, St Luke's General Hospital is a public private partnership between the Cross River government and St Luke's General Hospital in Lagos with all necessary systems and protocols in place; besides, the hospital has obtained all regulatory approval and license.
