Ifere Paul, a public policy analyst, environmentalist and leading critic of the Cross River State Government under the Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade has dragged the Government of Cross River State as well as Accountant General of the Federation; the Honourable Minister of Finance, the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee, Attorney General of Cross River State and the 18 Local Government Areas before a Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja over the incessant seizure or tampering with allocations to Local Government Areas in Cross River State by the State Government.

The case was filed on 4 May 2016 by Barrister First Baba Isa of Obono, Obono & Associates, Abuja, a firm of Legal Practitioners and Consultants.

Ifere Paul explained in a chat with our correspondence that this litigation is informed by the fact that 'the Local Government Areas are bereft of funds and are comatose while the government is pursuing skyrocketing and space bound projects'. He further observed that, 'Perhaps if I had gone to the court since on the superhighway, government wouldn't have squandered what they did. And they would not have messed around with our environment'.

After due summons of the involved parties, a date would be slated for hearing.
