Sunday 2 April 2016 witnessed the battle between Rovers Football Club of Calabar and Diamond Stars FC in the finals of the just concluded 2016 edition of Cross River State Federation Cup.
In the said match played yesterday at the U. J. Esuene Sports Stadium, Rovers FC disgraced Diamond FC by 2 goals to nothing and by this won the cup of the competition.
Professor Ivara Ejemot Esu, Deputy Governor of Cross River State who represented the state Governor Ben Ayade, Hon. Enebiene Ana, Hon. Ogbor Ogbor, Honourable Member representing Biase in the Cross River State House of Assembly, were notable spectators.
Also, the Chairman of Cross River State Football Association, Rt. Hon. (Pst) Essien Ayi, The Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Comr. Okang Asu, Hon. Orok Duke, Chairman, Cross River State Sport Commission and other soccer lovers were notable spectators.
