The Chairman of Public Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Sylvester Ebaye last week reinstated his readiness to partner with Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency to deliver quality health services to the state when he led members of the board to visit Director General CRSPHCDA, Dr. Mrs. Betta Edu.
Dr. Ebaye made it known that health issues are very vital to the people and as such the board will compliment the effort of the state government so far in primary and secondary health care. He thanked the state Governor, Senator (Prof) Ben Ayade for listening to the yearnings of his people by establishing Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency and Public Hospitals Management Board which were long overdue. He stressed that the SMOH, CRSPHCDA and the public hospital management board will help drive the health system in Cross River State.
According to him, this partnership will go a long way in strengthening health delivery and facility utilisation in all health facilities in the state.
In her response, Dr Edu thanked the board for the timely visit at a period where ideas and partnership are needed for better synergy in revitalizing health care service delivery in the state. She promised to carry them along in her programs.
The DG intimated the board of various programs the agency have carried out so far in the state ranging from First ever health town Hall meetings and Needs Assessment tour of PHC's which is still ongoing, Immunization exercises on measles and polio across the state, surveillance for cross boarder diseases, fight against maternal mortality amongs others.
Dr Edu, used the opportunity to informed them of the Maternal and Child Health week to be flag-off by their Excellencies, Hajia Aisha Buhari, Wife of the President, Senator (Prof) Ben Ayade and wife, Dr Linda Ayade on the at Ikom township stadium,calling on them to be part of the events
She tasked them to shun petty politics in management of public hospitals, rise above the challanges of the hospitals management which include lack of staff, low commitment awork for betterment of the people.
The Board Secretary, Elder Iyamba Idem assured the DG of their determination to deliver on their assignment in the best interest of the state as he showered praises on the giants stride recorded so far by Dr. Mrs. Betta Edu in primary healthcare.
