It has come to our knowledge that the government of Cross River State has started putting spys on social media to monitor state civil servants who are criticizing the government.

According to available and reliable information, the spys surreptitiously add people as friends on Facebook, chat in the inbox using some dubious means to get the original particulars and bio data about these critics and then report to government in a way to stop their salaries.

I want to warn that any civil servant whom his or her employment or appointment is terminated and or salaries withheld on the basis of criticism against the government of the day will not be acceptable and will push us to the extreme where we will actually organise demonstration on the streets of Nigeria and embassies around the world against the government of Cross River State.

We have received complaints from 3 civil servants from Yakurr LGA of Cross River State that they are being threaten because they are seen as antagonists of the government because they make posts against certain government policies.

We are aware that the government of Governor Ben Ayade is for the Obudu people, therefore will give him the benefit of doubt to sack whichever political appointee from Yakurr LGA that he appointed. But, we will not remain quiet if he decides to terminate employment of "Yakurr Indigenes" in the State civil service. Especially, those he didn't employ.

Enough Is Enough.
