Following the bench warrant of arrest on Venatius Ikem, and a publication on "The Nation" about him being a wanted man for stealing a Toyota TX-L Full Option SUV , Hon Venatius Ikem has vowed to take Ayade to the gutters.
Presenting evidence of ownership of the vehicle, Venatius Ikem went further to say that the murder case put on him is cooked up by Ayade. He said that it was a case of two fighting where he (Vena) paid handsomely to the injuries suffered by Boniface Ishmaili as damages. The cheque signed by Ismaili is still available in the court. The case was said to have been settled.
Information from the clerk of the magistrate court is that he remembered that the case was discharged. And went further to say that "a discharged case can be brought up for trial whenever other relevant and related evidences are available."
The question therefore is: what are the new relevant and useful evidences? The clerk said that he has no further details and cannot go on to discuss the case since the person whose bench warrant was issued has not been arrested. On whether the police has the right to put Venatius Ikem on a national paper, he said that he has no idea.
Meanwhile, Barr. (Chief) Okoi Obono-obla reacting to the issue, said that Governor Ben Ayade is witch hunting Venatius Ikem for decamping to APC. “Here is a governor from the PDP who has received goodwill from the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and who claims that Mohammadu Buhari is his friend, but chasing his brothers from the same LGA because they decamped from his party (PDP) to APC.” Obla concluded that this of arresting the opposition in CRS through cooked up tactics has been going on for some time.
It is however sad that Governor Ben Ayade is belittling himself by playing petty politics using Vena as a scapegoat.
