A designated photograph showcasing the Minority Leader of the Senate and erstwhile 2-tenure governor of Akwa Ibom State and Supreme Court Justices has gone viral.
The said photograph is invoked to support the allegation that Senator Akpabio had met with Supreme Court Justices prior to the judgment of upholding the election of the incumbent governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel.
However, the Distinguished Senator has demised such insinuations by the hierarchy of the APC as mere mischief by rumour mongers. That, he is committed to justice and democracy.
He revealed that the said photograph was taken 'during a courtesy Visit by the senate Committee of Judiciary'.
What follows are his exact words posted on his social media account:
'It has come to my notice that the picture below is being circulated with false information that I or the Governor of my State influenced the Judgement of the supreme court to uphold the Elections of Gov. Emmanuel Udom.
I wish to state emphatically that no such thing happened as being peddled by rumour mongers. This picture was taken during a courtesy Visit by the senate Committee of Judiciary and I have no communications whatsoever with the supreme court justices. I stand firmly for Justice and Democracy and will in no way interfere with the truth and Justice for which the supreme court is known.
The Judiciary is an independent body and does not take orders from anybody, while we are committed to improving the tenets of Democracy in Nigeria as well as the African continent. I pray that Nigerians do not question the Integrity of the highest court in the land as it does not speak well of us as a Nation. Thank you and God Bless Nigeria.'
