At last, The former president of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has released what I may call startling revelation of a bitter -truth about the abducted Chibok Girls.
The Former president of Nigeria did yesterday assert that .. The hope of recovering and rescuing the Chibok Girls is long dead and buried.
Baba (as he is fondly called) gave this unequivocal assertion on Friday 6th of February, 2016 at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Staff Club in Ile-Ife .
Vanguard Newspapers corroborated the above by informing that the former Nigeria President, argued that all hope of bringing back the Chibok girls alive after about two years of being captured by Boko Haram militants seems to have been lost finally.
Our correspondence gathered that when Baba was asked about his view on the increased rate of insurgency in our dear country with particular mention of the issue of the abduction of the Chibok Girls, OBJ frankly informs that: The Nigerian leaders should stop deceiving the populace for Chibok girls cannot return again!".
He however, blamed the immediate past administration for the failure to recover the Chibok girls.
According to him,it is the carefree and passive attitude of the just step aside President that has led to the non discovery of the Chibok Girls till date.
He further argued that it is the failure to take appropriate action early enough that have stood as a bottle neck in the return of these innocent children.
In his words: “72 hours after the Chibok girls were adopted was too late for their rescue, not to say less, getting to two years by April".
Continuing, he further stressed that :
” If any leader is promising bringing back the Chibok girls to Nigeria, he is lying” .
His premise for the above subsists in the rationale that ..majority of these girls would by now have died, while those alive would have married or have been sexually violated.
Critical Evaluations:
Should the incumbent Government 'throw in the towel' as a result of these arguments by the former president?
But is it not the case that these Chibok Girls have actually metamorphosed into if I may add, "Chibok Mothers and grand parents?" Going by OBJ's argument above?
The answer to these questions remain concealed.! The search for the Girls still continues.. As our men in the uniform are in a a race against time to ensure their recovery.
