Contained in a circular that was signed by the Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Ben Ayade, Mr. Christian Ita, and which has gone viral on social media, the Executive Governor of Cross River State, HE Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, yesterday 8 February 2016, made a set of appointments into the Executive Council of the State Government.

According to the document, about 74 Cross Riverians have been appointed into 7 boards as Special Advisers(SAs) and Board members. These boards, councils, agencies, etc includes:

*Entrepreneurship Development(25 appointments)
*Sustainable Development Goals Board(7 appointments)
*Strategic Policy Advisory Council(7 appointments)
*Cross River State Scrap Metal Regulatory Agency (11 appointments)
*Cross River State Library Board (9 appointments)
*Cross River State Public Hospital Management Board (8 appointments)
*College of Health Technology Governing Council (7 appointments).

In these appointments, there are 21 youths (18 from each LGAs and 3 from each senatorial district). If you recall, youths of the state made a solidarity march in support of His Excellency, and it is said that he appreciated that gesture by making those 21 appointments.

However, it should be noted that these appointments takes into cognizance already existing appointments earlier on made. It's not yet clear what the terms of reference of these appointments are. And I doubt whether there shall be any since previous ones made hadn't and calls for a clear cut definition on that had fallen on deaf ears. Probably, there would be a change of course because this present press outfit would love to know what the job of the Cross River State Scrap Metal Regulatory Agency which has Barr. D. C. Enamhe on its membership will be.

In these appointments, the erstwhile Deputy Governor, Barr. Efiok Cobham, and one Francis Ayade perceived to be the brother of His Excellency and referred to as 'defacto governor' by critics are on the membership of what the document refer to as Strategic Policy Advisory Council. These Council should be the apex body responsibility for pulling the shots in Ben Ayade's administration as they will be responsible for defining the policy approach of the present state administration.

The press outfit will publish names of the appointees subsequently.
