HEALTH NEWS: Gov. Ayade’s Aide Pays Advocacy Visit to Ministry of LG Affairs

Information reaching Negroid Haven's Health Desk from the Personal Assistant(PA) -Media & Publicity, Charles Ekanem, to the Special Adviser(SA) -Community & Primary Healthcare, suggest that the SA is presently on Advocacy Visit to various stakeholders in the state in view of sensitising the the public of the much anticipated state measles immunization exercise billed for 28th January through 1st February 2016. Yesterday she paid a visit to Ministry of Local Government Affairs in company with partners from UNICEF and WHO. Her ongoing Advocacy Visit is geared towards mobilising support for the exercise.

The Special Adviser was recieved by the Hon. Commissioner, Hon. John Ulafor and the permanent Secretary, Her Excellency, Mrs Esu. In her opening remarks, the SA thanked the Commissioner, Permanent Secretary, and other staff of the ministry for finding time to recieve the health team. She went on to inform them of the State Governor Senator (Prof) Ben Ayade's resolve to provide quality healthcare service to the people.

She called on the ministry to assist the Department carry out an effective and result oriented Measles immunization exercise by achieving 100% coverage in the state. She appealed that the LGAs should help with supervision for the exercise and daily collation of immunisation data assisted by the PHC cordinators. On the S.A wish list from the Department was, 60% funding contribution from the LGA's to support the Primary health care drive and vision of the state Governor. She advocated for better working relationship with LGA's.
The representative of UNICEF brief the Honorable Commissioner on the needs to meet with the LGA chairmen and educate them on their responsibilities as it concerns the immunisation exercise.
The honorable Commissioner responded by thanking the Special Adviser and Health partners for their visit, stressing the needs for quality healthcare services to the society. He said the ministry will support the Department of Community Health and Primary Healthcare on the measles immunization campaign. He promise to quickly inform the LGA chairmen on the need to mobilize their people for the exercise.
