Ex- President Olusegun Obansanjo had informed that the problem with Nigeria of today is traceable to what I may call 'the ripple effects of bad leadership'.
According to information from our source, "Baba" while speaking during a courtesy visit of the leaders and members of the Scout Association of Nigeria at his presidential palace in Abeokuta, yesterday 8th of January 2015, attributed Nigeria's sociopolitical cum economic meandering situation, to her selfish leaders.
He argued that it is sad to know that the selfish interest of most Nigerian leaders (past and present,I suppose) is what has left this Nation were it is today.
He enjoins leaders at all levels to make the interest of the governed their primary concern as this would help bring about National unity, progress as well as development.
You will recall that Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, by providence had served as a two time leader of the country during the Military and civilian Regime respectively. A privilege which elluded many of his contemporaries.
Without much ado, He however, has been described by Olusoga Sofola-Atibioke ( the Chief commissioner of the scout association of Nigeria) as the group's messenger for peace in Africa who would build a peaceful and formidable Africa with his focal lens on Nigeria.
Atibioke made this assertion when Obasanjo was decorated with the honour of the ambassador for peace in Africa by the members of the Scout association in his Abeokuta hometown.
My Critical evaluations.
Do you think that this a Honour well deserved by Baba ? Did Baba himself make any positive impact during his tenure as president? Did he serve selflessly as he is evangelizing above?
Come to think of it, going by what I consider as late Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu's acid test for a true leader which posits that " He that must come to equity, must to so with clean hands because in the house of equity, there are no soaps nor water".
Can you say that Baba should be given a pass mark for his leadership style and that he should be excluded from the caucus of selfish leaders that have kept Nigeria in this her sociopolitical cum economic malady?
Your opinions are welcomed.
