It is no gainsaying the fact that the National Youth Service Corp members of kogi State will not be joining their counterparts in other states tomorrow, Monday for the passing out parade.

This is premised upon the fact that there will be a Gubernatorial Election in the state come next Saturday 22nd of November 2015 and as a result, the services of the corpers are highly required.

However, Prior to this time there had been rumours flying around the Asanya Bunu orientation camp of kogi State alleging that the kogi State Corpers would be participating in the forth coming Governorship Elections of the state and hence they as a matter of necessity and urgency must stay back to help with the Elections.

The camp Director, Mrs Grace Folake Johnson confirmed the rumour yesterday Saturday afternoon when the Corpers were all sent out of their hostels to converge for an emergency information.

The Corp Members who had all awaited with Patience the completion of the three weeks orientation program, with hope to visit their loved ones and their abandoned businesses had their hopes dashed when they heard the News.

NEGROIDHAVEN gathered from an interview with some of the Corp Members who expressed their pains, greivances and worries .

A particular corper who claimed anonymous argues that irrespective of the fact that his mission as Corp Member is to serve his country, such Service should be optional rather than served under duress .

He further decried the feeding arrangements of the camp. For him, the meal we are given is nothing to be written home about as they lack nutitional value.

Another corpers told NEGROIDHAVEN that the treatment they had been receiving from the Military men cum the Man O war had been life threatening, inhumane and frustrating.

In His words : " Its Hell in here, we are treated as slaves by the men in uniform. You dare not raise an eyebrow, if you try to question anything they do, you will be left to face the music.
A Stern look to your face will remind you of the 'NO OPTION' rule of engagement which you an "Otondo" unconsciously and ignorantly swore to in camp. All these in the name of Service for the father land.

Nonetheless ,  the Management of the NYSC camp in Asanya, kogi State have during an address to Corp Members informed that the Government of the State have promised to compensate all Corp Members Of kogi State for their time and Service during and after the Election. They have also promised to provide Security for all those who will be serving as either presiding Officers or collation officers before, during and after the Elections.
