It is no longer News that the just step aside Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Sen. Godswill Akpabio is being trailed by the members of the Economic And Financial Crimes Commision (EFCC), as he was arrested and accused of financial impropriety, embezzlement and the big word..’corruption’ to which He (Sen. Godswill Akpabio) had all denied arguing they are baseless and only tailored towards tarnishing his reputation and good deeds to the people of Akwa Ibom State.
In His words : “I have nothing to hide”.
The Northern Region Editor Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr Soni Daniel, did yesterday , engage the Ex-Governor Godswill Akpabio for over seven hours, confronting him with evidence of His alleged financial Dishonesty during his reign as Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
According to reports from our source, the Ex Governor told his interrogators that there are certain rights he has as the then Governor of Akwa Ibom State that provided him with the Powers to approve certain enormous sum of money meant for the development of the state as such expenditures appear necessary.
An excerpt from the vanguard Newspapers alluded to the above when it informs that :
“The interrogation of Akpabio by the agency..made it possible for him to come face-to- face with what was described as major financial transactions ..as carried out by his administration “
“.. Such transactions, estimated at N108 billion, according to EFCC sources, were, however, said to have been stoutly defended by Akpabio, who claimed he had the power as governor to authorize such monumental expenditure “in the interest of the state and its people”.
We only wonder how long the Ex-Governor will be able to hold off these allegations.
My candid advise to him is that he should not reminded that even Jesus Christ is God in the flesh and Sinless was not left to enjoy his victory over the Devil on a platter of Gold. The holy writ records that “the Devil only left him for a season” . Someone may argue that the two scenerio do not dovetail.
To all who care to listen, My Point however is that President Buhari, contrary to the popular saying “will not let sleeping dogs lay ” he will stop at nothing to Bring to book all offenders, the guilty will be punished and disgraced, like the ‘Devil’ he will strike again when further evidence come to light.
My advice to all the thieves both small and big is this.. Repent, Renounce and Restore our Stolen Money or perish.
There will be no Mercy this time, not for even the thief on the cross. The late Chief Odumeagwu Ojukwu had long advised in case you guys have forgotten that “He that must come to EQUITY (Buhari), must do so with clean hands, because in the House (kitchen) of EQUITY, there are no soaps and water (favouritism, nepotism, and classism).”
President Muhammadu Buhari is the judge of all of you thieves and corrupt godfathers .
He has already declared in His presidential acceptance speech that : “I AM FOR EVERYBODY AND I BELONG TO NOBODY” (Not even the JAGABAND of APC or BABA of former PDP). If He (PMB) fails to honour and hold up to this statement, critical minds like me will cry out, Nigerians will hold him to question and posterity will not forgive him. “I don talk my own” .
