President of the federal republic of Nigeria Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd) has ordered for the disposal of nine presidential aircraft.

As part of his recent measures to cut down cost, the president had requested that nine VIP aircrafts be sold off.

An aviation who is aware of the directive to sell the aircraft disclosed that the presidential fleet is one of the largest in Africa after Arik and Aerocontractors. He also disclosed that the presidential fleet ran across serviceable and unserviceable aircraft that need to be disposed to cut down cost of maintenance.

In his words, “Nine, which still have market value, are to be sold immediately to reduce maintenance costs”. The federal government is said to have spent over 12 billion naira for the maintenance of the presidential fleet.
